So you never say again "I hate China" 2008-08-01 Have you ever wondered why some of your friends say "I have a great time in Beijing." and others say "I hate China!" ?
Of course, we all have different personalities, but I am convinced that it is the magical combination of some successful ingredients that are going to make the difference.
1. Language training
I know you have all heard it before: "Learn the language first" or at least a bit of it.
2. Cross-cultural awareness
To understand better the ways of doing things in China. In the process your frustration levels will somehow go down.
3. Transition support
To get over the Homesickness stage "I hate it, bring me back home NOW!" and to move faster onto the Adaptation stage.
4. Career guidance
To honour your full set of values, skills and strengths and feel purpose-driven.
I am not saying you need to be the CEO of the biggest multinational in Beijing though.
5. Inspiration
Because you need to feel uplifted, inspired, energized to keep moving, particularly if you live like me in Shunyi.
6. Support network
Because life is too hard on your own and your Mum and Dad and brothers and sisters are miles away.
7. Local resources
Because you live in China and need to know what is available here.
If you find yourself nodding your head while reading this passage, you will love our Program ... to be announced soon on a fully redesigned INSPIRED website end of August.
All the best to you,
Jasmine
